We find 19th Century baseball scorecards to be among the more interesting collectibles in the hobby right now, particularly when the lineups are printed and games scored.  In this example, we can actually trace the game to Opening Day, April 17, at Oriole Park.  The Orioles won that game by a 4-1 margin.  The 1886 Orioles were fairly dismal, posting a 46-85 record, starting pitcher Matt Kilroy winning 29 but losing 34 to pace the pitching staff.  The Grays were a .500 team, with 69 wins and losses each, pitchers Henry Porter and Adonis Terry leading the team.    The black and white scorecard features an image of Kilroy on the cover, the game scored in black ink on the interior pages.  Significant wear is evident, most notably a small piece of paper torn from the bottom-right corner.  Several additional tears, areas of slight paper loss and creasing are also evident, however, the piece in general still makes an attractive display. An early Baltimore Orioles item from the Ted Patterson collection.
