The 1895 Mayo's Cut Plug (N300) set is a favorite among 19th Century card collectors.  The issue's clear, vivid photographic images do not suffer from the fading of its N172 Old Judge cousin, and the black borders provide not only a frame to the image but a challenge to condition-conscious collectors.  Like many cards of the era, N300 cards are frequently found trimmed, or with back damage that results from having been mounted in scrapbooks, a common practice of the day.

This Jimmy Bannon has achieved the relatively lofty grade of VG 40 by prewar grading experts SGC.  While the card's image is off-center to the left, it retains its borders and a clean back with no scrapbook damage, which is relatively uncommon for the issue.  Creasing along the left corners, edge and corner chipping and general soft corners are, as one would expect, common for any 19th century paper item without evidence of being stored in a scrapbook.  An excellent example of a very popular and collectible 19th Century baseball issue.
