Pictured here at the tail end of his career with the Kansas City Blues of the American Association, Gus Dorner actually played 11 years of pro ball between 1901 and 1911, shuttling between the minors and majors.  This stunning example of Dorner boasts four sharp corners and stunning color, the highest-graded Piedmont T206 example on record with PSA.

High-grade T206 cards are always in demand, as the prices for high-grade T206 cards continue to outpace much of the hobby.  Despite T206 cards being plentiful in the hobby, examples graded NMT or better are in short supply, accounting for fewer than 4% of nearly a quarter million T206s that have been graded by PSA and SGC.  This example is the only Piedmont example graded higher than 7 by PSA, and though another Dorner exists in PSA 8 with an "unknown back," none have graded higher.  SGC has graded an additional three copies at this level, though we have reason to believe that one of them is actually this one, having recently been crossed over from SGC to PSA.

The ability to obtain the highest-graded example of a T206 card is rare, particularly one with the population as low as this Dorner.

Population Data
PSA Population: 133 total graded, 1 at this level, 0 higher*
SGC Population: 108 total graded, 3 at this level, 0 higher

*Note: PSA only recently began differentiating T206 cards by back variety.  An additional 116 Dorner cards have been graded with "unknown" back, 1 at this level, and none higher.  It is possible that the one PSA 8 Dorner with the unknown back is also a Piedmont.
