Extraordinary collection of ten original photos, each mounted to a heavy backing measuring approximately 7" x 6".  The photos depict various members of the 1910 New York Highlanders during spring training, the subject of most photos identified in pencil writing on the mount underneath the photo.  Each are also identified with some type of file number.  The photos, while affixed to the cardboard backings, are quite tenuous in places, threatening to shake loose from their backing simply due to age and the type of adhesive used.  The collection includes the following: 1) batting practice photo, subjects not identified.  Significant wear including a large hole at the bottom-right corner;  2) Willie Keeler: action photo of Keeler, having just hit a ball and dropped his bat, beginning to run down the first base line, opposing catcher removing his mask behind him.  Poor condition with tearing and staining, the image of Keeler himself is unmistakeable.  3) Willie Keeler: portrait photo of Keeler in street clothes and bowler hat.  Poor condition with multiple tears and staining.  4) Jimmy Austin and Willie Keeler: Teammates appear to be jogging along some type of track that, oddly, resembles a horse track.  VG/EX condition.  5) Hal Chase and Ed Sweeney: Heavily-stained photo depicting the two players, Chase ostensibly taking batting practice against live pitching, some teammates warming in the background.  6) Lou Criger: Wearing full catcher's gear, photo is in excellent condition, some glue stains visible on the mount around the edges of the photo.  7) Earl Gardner and Unidentified Teammate: Photo depicts sliding practice, a clean photo with some mild tearing and an upper-right corner clip. Neither player is identifiable by the photo, though Gardner is identified in handwriting underneath.  8) Eddie "Kid" Foster: Apparently during sliding practice, there is nothing about this photo that can identify Foster other than the pencil writing underneath.  9) George Stallings: Pictured on the bench amidst a number of others, a poor condition photo with heavy paper loss at the lower-right, and significant glue staining on the surface.  10) Kid Elberfeld: Third baseman Elberfeld, after having just thrown a ball home.  Poor condition with significant tearing and paper loss, along with heavy staining on the surface.  Ten very interesting photos, including some of the era's most beloved names.
