Pair of baseball-themed cigar box labels, including: 1) C.1903 Harry Pulliam Cigar Box Label:  Tougher cigar box label.  Experts agree that the cigars themselves were issued in just one year, 1903.  That was the year Pulliam was named president of the National League, and it was his controversial decision related to the "Merkle Boner" in 1908 that ultimately awarded the victory to the Chicago Cubs, who won the Pennant and the World Series.  It is said that the pressure of that decision caused Pulliam to take time away from his work and even consider leaving his position.  Ultimately Pulliam committed suicide in his office at just 40 years of age, devastating the baseball community.  The label appears in EX condition, though some mild glue stains are evident on the reverse.  2) Alfonso Rios & Co. American League Cigar Box Label: Apparent EX condition, measuring 4 6/8" square, we cannot confirm whether the edges of this label have been trimmed, and therefore due to the narrow borders, are asking bidders to bid as if it were.  Two labels total.
