Real photo postcard of a group of men (perhaps teammates, perhaps friends) including the "Flying Dutchman," Honus Wagner.  The unmistakeable image of Wagner, seated in the front row, far right, flanks an unknown gentleman in the image center, with Wagner's brother Butts on the far left. The two gentleman in the rear of the photo are, thus far, indistinguishable.

Real photo postcards of this nature were common in the early 1900s, often taken by consumer cameras that were designed to produce postcard-size photos that could be printed on postcard backs.  Collectors today revel in the ability to find turn of the century RPPCs and discover images of popular ballplayers (or other celebrities).  Sadly, today's grading companies do not have consistent policies with respect to grading RPPCs, so the cards are typically traded privately among more advanced collectors.

This particular card a second copy of which was "outed" on the Net54 message board in 2009, features the unmistakeable Wagner in street clothes.  His brother Albert "Butts" Wagner played one season (1898) with the Washington Senators and Brooklyn Bridegrooms.

The card itself is in good condition, with fading and general wear throughout.  The date "1908" is written in pencil on the reverse, but is likely an inaccurate date due to the layout of the postcard back.

A very difficult-to-find image of one of the game's greatest players.
