During his career, Gary Carter was a kindred spirit among young collectors, because it was known that he was also a card collector.  At some point, cards from his collection became available in the hobby, pedigreed by SGC.  On some of the cards, the young Carter went as far as to claim ownership by writing his name on the reverse - a true collector.

Presented here are four cards from the future Hall of Famer's collection - two acquired as a child, and two more from his rookie season of 1975.  Included here are the following:  1) 1957 Topps Football (1 card): #153 Bill Svoboda.  2) 1958 Topps Football (1 card); #63 Joe Marconi.  Both cards are well-worn, authenticated by SGC.  The young Carter wrote his first name on the back of both cards, which has been authenticated by James Spence Authentication when that company had a reciprocal relationship with SGC.  2) 1975 Topps Baseball (2 cards): #35 Ron Santo (HOF) and #653 Lee Richards.  The Santo card has been graded NM/MT+ 8.5, while the Richards has been graded MINT 9.  Four beautiful cards, including one Hall of Famer, each owned by Hall of Famer and fan favorite Gary Carter.
