Long-time Ruth manager and confidant Christy Walsh typed a letter to his friend on February 18, 1947.  Ruth stayed at the New York hospital for four months in 1946 and 1947, having a malignant tumor removed from his neck and receiving radiation treatments.

Walsh's letter opens "Ever since the day you entered French Hospital, I have watched the daily bulletins and only wished there was something I could do to help.  The news that you are finally back in your home is the best bulletin of all."

Walsh's letter proceeds to bring Ruth up to speed on various goings-on, around baseball, and with some of his other clients.  With caring friendship, the two-page letter goes on to wish Ruth well in his recovery, closing with "And to yourself Babe my deepest and most faithful friendship."

Ruth would, of course, be gone in a little more than a year.

FAIR condition with edge wear, some creases near the staples, significant tearing and wear on the second page, and some discoloration of the first.  Also includes the original envelope as well as a Los Angeles Examiner clipping sent by Walsh.
