Group of four cabinet photos depicting an unidentified Cuban factory or mill team.  While each of the photos exhibits substantial wear, such is the case with most of the material from Cuba.  Between the age of the pieces, the harsh conditions and damp air, it's often a minor miracle that pieces documenting Cuban amateur ball such as these survived at all.  The first of four photos depicts a young, uniformed player, posing with bat in hand, ballfield in the background.  The second photo depicts members of the same team, posing alongside what appear to be dignitaries (including a woman holding a baseball as if to throw it) and possibly an umpire.  The third is a team photo.  The final photo has the players and group of dignitaries posed along the first base line.

Our impression is that the photos were taken to commemorate some sort of special occasion; perhaps the throwing out of the first pitch by a local dignitary, or the dedication of a new ballfield.  And while the memories and documentation of the event may be lost to time, the photos remain, despite their condition a wonderful document of baseball in a country where baseball is king.
