Exceptional tabletop radio distributed by the Astra Trading Corporation of New York, featuring a figural plastic baseball player over the speaker, and facsimile autographs of Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle along the bottom.  From the collection of Ted Patterson, this radio exhibits several variations atypical of this model.  On all models we have seen, the radio dial is a simple dial fashioned in the shape of a baseball bat.  Similarly, the on/off switch is fashioned in the shape of a green, plastic baseball diamond.  In the case of this piece, both dials are of the more traditional, round variety.  It is possible that these are original to the piece, but also possible that the dials were replaced at some point (the dials can easily be pulled off their knobs and replaced).

The radio is fully functional, though it takes a few seconds for the internal mechanics to warm up and stop working (I'm sort of the same way).  Overall, VG condition, with several screws missing from the bottom and back of the piece that result in the radio being loose inside its cabinet.  Some paint markings are visible on the plug and wire, as if a wall was painted without unplugging the radio at some point.  Molded plastic front appears in excellent condition, with light signs of use-related wear to the wood cabinet.
