Difficult-to-find official Boston Red Sox program for a 1943 exhibition between the Boston Red Sox and Boston Braves.  Unscored, the program is in outstanding condition and lists the rosters for both teams on the scorecard page.  The game in question was likely the April 17, 1943 game between the two Boston teams, a 5-3 Red Sox win that raised $8,835 in gate receipts which were donated to the Red Cross for the war effort.  Though the program is a 1942 official program, the printed rosters on the scorecard page include Hall of Famer Al Simmons, who did not sign with Boston until February of 1943.  It is likely that the team had leftover 1942 programs, and simply printed a 1943 scorecard page to reduce expenses for the exhibition game.  THe scorecard presents as NM, though some minor areas of wear and signs of folding are evident.  "Boston Braves vs Boston Red Sox" is typewritten on the cover, possibly done at the park, or more likely done by a collector after the fact.  An outstanding program, difficult to find, and certainly the only example we have ever handled.
