Trio of handwritten letters to fans, from members of the 1944 St. Louis Browns, each discussing their greatest thrills, each relating to the magical 1944 pennant-winning season.  Collection includes the following:

1) Don Gutteridge: The second baseman writes on a plain white sheet of paper, "I've had many many thrills in baseball.  In fact everyday I walked on the playing field was a thrill.  Probably my greatest thrill was last day of 1944 season and the last out was a pop fly behind first base caught by George McQuinn (Browns 1st baseman) to give us (The St. Louis Browns) the American League Pennant.  It was a very exciting time.

2) Frank Mancuso: A 1982 letter written on City of Houston letterhead, where Mancuso was a councilman. Mancuso wrote in green marker, among other things, Mancuso writes "My better years and the happiest years were in St. Louis, and certainly the World Series in 1944 when my team the St. Louis Browns played the St. Louis Cardinals.  I don't know old you fans are but I hope you will always keep your interest in base ball.  Thanks for remembering."

3) Len Schulte: The infielder had preceisely one at bat with the 1944 Browns, part of a three-year career, almost every game of which occurred during the 1945 season.  On lined pennant, Schulte writes, among other things, "I have a statement to make when I played with the Browns.  I think in my time I played next to the best shortstop in baseball Vern Stephens.  I also had the best first baseman to throw to George McQuinn.  The best thrill was winning the pennant in 1944."  An outstanding letter that illustrates the emotional power of winning a Pennant.

Three letters total - none from superstar players, but all documenting the beauty of the magical 1944 season.
