Fine, complete catcher's ensemble, the "tools of ignorance" - a 1920s catcher's mask, chest protector and smooth-surface shinguards.  Dating to the 1920s, the collection includes: 1) Diamond Spitter Model Mask: Likely manufactured by Spalding, a fine example with buckles and straps intact, though no manufacturer's tag is present.  2) Stall & Dean Chest Protector: Large, full-size protector with all buckles and straps present, no holes or tears.  EX condition.  3) Rare "Smooth Face" Shinguards: Draper & Maynard "Lucky Dog" tags, exceedingly rare shinguards are smooth-surfaced, with some use-related wear and tear.  Padding and reverse lacing are intact.  An excepetional collection of vintage catcher's equipment, particularly noteworthy due to the rarity of the shinguards.  Four pieces total.
