Pair of letters on Chicago Cubs letterhead, both written to Walter O'Malley regarding the Dodgers' proposed relocation to Los Angeles.  As the Dodgers finalized their plans to relocate from Brooklyn to Los Angeles, there remained the small matter of the Chicago Cubs' interest in the Los Angeles Angels of the Pacific Coast League.  Meanwhile, the Dodgers owned the rights to the Texas League team in Fort Worth.

In February of 1957, the Dodgers purchased the Angels and their territorial rights for $3 million, thus ending the Cubs' interest in baseball in Los Angeles.  Essentially, they traded their Fort Worth team, territory and cash to the Cubs for their Los Angeles team and territory.

Presented here are two letters from Cubs president Bill Hagenah to the Dodgers' owner Walter O'Malley, regarding that transaction.  The first, dated February 27 (one week after the transaction closed), is a one-page letter suggesting O'Malley write a letter to Mr. Wrigley regarding the value of the ballclubs (the Angels, and another minor league team in Fort Worth, TX).  The second, which spills onto a second page, was written a month later, and is more of a personal letter, recapping the transaction itself.  Both letters appear in VG/EX to EX condition with little wear, the two-page letter does suffer from staple holes at the upper-left, where they were once stapled together.  Significant baseball content regarding the Dodgers' move to Los Angeles, one of the most significant events to happen to the game in the postwar era.
