Spectacular 1983-84 Louisville Slugger model C243 bat used by Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Jim Rice.  Exhibiting extreme evidence of use, the most noteworthy feature is the thick coating of pine tar on the bat handle, applied over a layer of tape.  The 34 1/2" bat weighs in at just under 32 ounces, and does have a handle crack that has been glued.  The knob of the bat has been blacked out, ostensibly with marker.  The blacked out knob makes PSA/DNA unable to confirm use by Rice, though the LOA indicates that the bat is authentic and exhibits characteristics consistent with use by Rice.
