Extremely underrated due to the brevity of his career, Jim Gentile was a fan favorite, a power hitting first baseman who had a .302 batting average with 46 home runs and a whopping 141 RBI in 1961, but was overshadowed by the Mickey Mantle & Roger Maris home run chase.  Gentile continued to post strong power numbers for the next several seasons, until injuries, slumps and reputation began working against him.  He finished his nine-year major league career with 179 home runs, an average of 31 per season.

Attractive Louisville Slugger bat dates to Gentile's prime, between 1961 and 1963, and exhibits outstanding signs of use.  Gentile's number 4 is written on the knob, and a heavy coating of pine tar is evident on the handle.  Gentile has signed the bat in blue Sharpie on the barrel, between the centerbrand and barrel brand.  Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA.
