Spectacular 1971 Los Angeles Dodgers jersey worn in 1972 Spring Training by Hall of Famer Frank Robinson.  Part of a multiplayer deal in the early winter of 1972, Robinson reported to spring training and was given the 1971 uniform of Marv Galliher, a young infield prospect in the Dodgers organization who never actually made it to the big club.   By Opening Day, Robinson was given actual 1972 Dodgers jerseys, which he wore during the season.  Robinson has signed the jersey and inscribed it "S.T. '72."  Though no member of the Dodgers actually wore the number 36 in 1971, Robinson did wear it in 1972, an indication that he was assigned the number and temporarily wore this jersey until his 1972 uniforms were delivered.  Robinson played just one season for the Dodgers, batting .251 with 19 home runs and 59 RBI before being traded to the California Angels in a multi-player deal.  Robinson had three more productive seasons before becoming player-manager of the Cleveland Indians, the first African-American manager in baseball history.

MEARS has assigned the beautiful MacGregor size 42 jersey a grade of A7, deducting three points for multi-player use.  Still, an outstanding and affordable example of an official jersey worn by an important Hall of Famer.
