The Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 1987 was a great one, consisting of fullback Larry Csonka, Len Dawson, "Mean" Joe Greene, John Henry Johnson, Jim Langer, Don Maynard, and Gene Upshaw.  The August induction ceremony produced this "Game Day" program, a 166-page magazine consisting of tributes to the newly-elected Hall of Famers, along with information about current NFL players, and each individual Hall of Fame member.

In and of itself, a wonderful collectible and a who's who in pro football history.

The original owner of this publication, a longtime autograph collector with close access to both NFL and MLB clubhouses, turned it into one of the more spectacular collectibles we've ever seen.  Painstakingly obtaining the signatures of a whopping 46 football stars and Hall of Famers, the collector kept this magazine in his possession, bringing it out only to have it signed when one of the players chronicled in its contents was nearby.  Further, the collector obtained a number of signatures from other Hall of Famers and stars on a heavy cardboard sheet, and then hand-bound the sheet into the publication with tape, adding additional signatures and content to the publication.

The result is an absolutely stunning piece of memorabilia, diligently compiled over the course of several years, featuring many of the most important and famous names in football history.  Signatures include the following:

Lance Alworth (HOF), Raymond Berry (HOF), Fred Biletnikoff (HOF), Jim Brown (HOF), Willie Brown (HOF), Randall Cunningham, Len Dawson (HOF), Tom Fears (HOF), Sid Gillman (HOF), Joe Greene (HOF), L.C. Greenwood, Mike Haynes (HOF), Ted Hendricks (HOF), Paul Hornung (HOF), Sam Huff (HOF), Lamar Hunt (HOF), Charlie Joiner (HOF), Sonny Jurgensen (HOF), Archie Manning, Gino Marchetti (HOF), Don Maynard (HOF), Mike McCormack (HOF), Hugh McElhenny (HOF), Bobby Mitchell (HOF), Ron Mix (HOF), Marion Motley (HOF), Ozzie Newsome (HOF), Ray Nitschke (HOF), Chuck Noll (HOF), Merlin Olsen (HOF), Jim Otto (HOF), Bill Parcells, Joe Perry (HOF), Jim Plunkett, Pete Rozelle (HOF), Gale Sayers (HOF), Art Shell (HOF), Phil Simms, Ernie Stautner (HOF), Charley Taylor (HOF), Tim Taylor (HOF), Y.A. Tittle (HOF), Paul Warfield (HOF), Mike Webster (HOF), Larry Wilson (HOF), and Willie Wood (HOF).

The publication itself is worn, consistent with a document that had been preserved for years by a collector but handed to nearly 50 individual players to sign.  The aforementioned cardboard sheet has been bound into a page directly with tape, and the cover itself has three pieces of tape along the binding.  Still, this is an outstanding, outstanding piece, a cornerstone to any pro football autograph collection.

A total of 46 signatures, including 40 Hall of Fame members, and some of the most important names in the history of professional football.
