Our last auction featured an unbelievable T3 Turkey Red cabinet of Tris Speaker, which, despite being graded lower, was too beautiful to properly describe.  This Walter Johnson is similar.  Graded VG+ 45 by SGC, the card image is as clean and vibrant as any we've seen, with beautiful, sharp detail and a vivid sheen about it that makes it appear brand-new.  Of course the card has flaws that account for the grade, notably some light corner wear and a ding at the upper-right, along with mild discoloration around the edges.  The reverse is tarnished only by a small stain at the bottom border, and a light mark of wear on the lower-right - probably left simply by being stacked with other cards over the years.

One of the key Hall of Famers in the set, this is simply a gorgeous card.  Conservatively graded, a collector is unlikely to find a more attractive specimen in this grade - clearly an example of how the term "technical grade" can be applied to illustrate how eye appeal can make a card so much more than the assigned grade.

Despite the grade, this is the highest-grade example of this card to have been graded by SGC to date.  One of the lower-population Hall of Famers in the set, just six examples rank higher than this one on the PSA population report.
