One of several examples of this card we have auctioned in our history, the 1914 Cracker Jack Del Pratt is an interesting card.  Often considered to be one of the most scarce cards in the 1914 issue, the Pratt has achieved its notoriety largely due to being one of just two cards where the player's pose was changed from the 1914 set to the 1915 set (the other being Christy Mathewson, arguably the 1914 issue's most important card).  Just 19 examples of the card have been graded between PSA and SGC combined, including this one, which we submitted after receiving it on consignment.

Pratt was a decent ballplayer, compiling a .292 lifetime batting average across a 13-year career that saw him do time in St. Louis, New York, Boston and Detroit.  He led the league with 103 RBI in 1916 with the Browns, and ran off a string of five consecutive .300 seasons to end his career.  He continued on in the Texas League after his major league retirement, playing ball through 1932 before finally hanging up his cleats.  Still, Pratt was never a Hall of Fame contender - the popularity of this card is due simply to its scarcity and its status as one of the toughest cards in one of the hobby's most popular issues.

Graded GOOD+ 35 by SGC, this is easily the most attractive of the Pratts we have offered, its grade reduced by edge and corner wear, as well as some minor staining at the bottom of the card, consistent with the issue.  The reverse shows the signs of caramel staining one would expect with 1914 Cracker Jacks, but the card itself presents extraordinarily well, with a distinct lack of creasing or significant surface wear.  An outstanding and important card.
