What began as a mediocre career in the mid-1950s with the Brooklyn Dodgers quickly evolved into one of the most dominant 7-year stretches in baseball history.  Sandy Koufax reached the 20-win plateau three times in his last four seasons, winning 25 games in 1963, 26 in 1965, and 27 in 1966, capturing the league lead in all four seasons.  During his last four seasons, his earned run average topped 2.0 just once, a 2.04 ERA in 1965.  He struck out 9.3 batters per nine innings pitched, and held opposing batters to a lowly .203 batting average from 1957 through 1966.  He pitched four no-hitters in his career, a record surpassed only by Nolan Ryan - however, Ryan pitched his seven no-hitters over the course of a 27-year career, while Koufax pitched his in fewer than half as many seasons.  Winner of three Cy Young awards, Koufax averaged fewer than 7 hits per 9 innings over the course of his career.

Presented here is a collection of three ticket stubs, one from each of Sandy Koufax' 20th victories.

The first stub is from a Dodger Stadium Loge Box season ticket, dated August 29, 1963.  On that date, Koufax pitched a masterful complete game against San Francisco, winning 11-1.  Koufax struck out 7 against just one walk and three hits.  The ticket stub is in outstanding NMT condition, with tremendous eye appeal.

The second stub is from Dodger Stadium reserved seating, dated August 10, 1965.  On that date, Koufax threw a complete game against the Mets, striking out 14 in a 4-3 victory.  He scattered 7 hits and 2 walks, giving up a 9th inning home run to Ron Swoboda that made the game look closer than it really was.  Koufax was dominant.  The stub itself is in GOOD condition, however that is only due to staple marks/holes at the top and bottom of the stub, both of which are relatively unobtrusive.  The edges and corners of the stub are magnificent, and there is very little chipping on the surface to interfere with the color.

The final stub is from a Loge Box season ticket, dated August 21, 1966.  On that date, Koufax pitched a complete game against St. Louis, winning 4-1.  Koufax struck out 10 while walking just two, giving up six hits (including two each to Lou Brock and Tim McCarver.  The face of the stub appears in remarkable condition, looking NMT until close inspection reveals the tiniest of pinholes in the midst of the graphics, as well as a long clear tape mark on the reverse.  Still, this is an outstanding ticket.

It is remarkable that Koufax accomplished each of his three 20th victories at home, each in complete game efforts.

A highly desirable group of ticket stubs, each authenticated and encapsulated by SGC, marking the milestone victories of one of the greatest pitchers of his generation.
