Spectacular Spalding Official League ball in incredible condition, featuring 27 ballpoint signatures as fresh as the day they were applied.  While the ball does exhibit minor soiling from being handled over the years, it is, essentially, as pristine a '54 Giants ball as you are likely to find, with more signatures than most.

The Durocher signature has been stamped on the ball's sweet spot.  All the remaining signatures are original, each applied in blue ballpoint.  Hall of Famers Willie Mays, Hoyt Wilhelm and Monte Irvin each appear clean and legible, and all the remaining players, including Dusty Rhodes, Hank Thompson, Sal "The Barber" Maglie, Marv Grissom, and Johnny Antonelli, are equally clear and sharp.

The 1954 Giants captured the National League Pennant with a 97-57 record, led by centerfielder Willie Mays, who captured the MVP, hitting .345 with 41 home runs and 110 RBI.  Antonelli's 21-7 pitching performance led the starters, while reliever Marv Grissom saved 17 games.  The team went on to sweep the Cleveland Indians, who had dominated the American League with an astonishing 111-43 season, behind the clutch hitting of Dustry Rhodes, a Game 1 walk-off home run by Monte Irvin, and the most memorable defensive play in World Series history, a play known even today only as "The Catch."  One of the most beautiful balls you are likely to see, from one of the game's most legendary teams.  Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
