Outstanding mounted photo, measuring an enormous 19" x 16" and featuring the members of the 1901 Pittsburgh Pirates.  The photo captures 17 players posing in a studio environment, in full uniform.  Subjects in the photo include, of course, Honus Wagner, but also Jack Chesbro and Fred Clarke, along with Deacon Phillipe, Tommy Leach, Chief Zimmer, Jesse Tannehill and Ginger Beaumont.  The photographer's name, D'Rosser, a prominent photographer in the Pittsburgh area around the turn of the century who also took the photographs for the Pirates premiums issued by Index magazine a few years later.

The photo presents extremely well, a few spots of wear and surface abrasion noticeable at close examination, with some foxing in the upper-left portion of the photo, and a small water stain visible just underneath Tommy Leach.  The mount has absorbed some wear, with a few spots of paper loss or minor tears, some edge chipping, and visible water staining at the bottom and reverse.  Some pencil writing is also visible on the reverse.  The size of the photo leads us to believe it was likely presented to the players as a memento from the seasonl; that this example has survived in such outstanding condition is a tremendous stroke of good fortune for a lucky bidder.
