With nearly 60 graded examples in existence between PSA and SGC, the 1928 Shonen Kulubu Babe Ruth postcard is not "rare" or "seldom seen" as it is frequently described in auction listings.  What it is, however, is a very interesting depiction of American baseball presented in Japan, depicting the great American baseball icon, Babe Ruth, purportedly hitting his first home run of the 1926 season.  That the celebrity of Babe Ruth was immense enough to merit a postcard halfway around the world, in an age where 24-hour sports networks and up-to-the-minute Twitter posts did not exist to keep fans abreast of developments in sports, is simply amazing, and this postcard is a tremendous document of that massive fame.  Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC, the card has not been postally used, but does exhibit the type of wear consistent with the assigned grade.  An outstanding document of the enormity of Babe Ruth, circa 1928, at the height of his popularity.
