Rarely offered, this is a near-complete set of cards issued by the Spic and Span Dry Cleaners of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The dry cleaner, who conducted a variety of promotions and issued multiple sets of cards and photos featuring members of the Milwaukee Braves during the 1950s, released these 4x6" cards between 1954 and 1956. Complete sets are very seldom seen, as are even individual cards from the Spic and Span issues.
This group features 17 of the 18 cards in the set, missing only the key card of Hank Aaron for completion. The majority of these cards grade in the G range, with a few better and some worse. The postcard backs are all unused, though some have pencil writing of a price on the reverse near the postal indicia - as do many postcards sold by dealers unaware that writing on the card actually reduces its condition. Condition breakdown as follows: Adcock (G, some creasing), Bruton VG, Burdette VG/EX, Buhl VG/EX, Crandall EX Conley VG, Crone F, Dittmer F, Johnson VG, Logan P (tear), O'Connell P, Jolly F, Mathews F, Nichols F, Pafko G, Spahn P (cut down from normal size), Thomson VG/EX.
Missing all but one card (granted, the set's key card), this is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a scarce, regional set almost complete.
