Spring 2020 Premier Auction - Closes April 11
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/12/2020
Tough signature of pitcher Roy WIlkinson, who during the 1919 season amassed a 17-15 record with the Columbus Senators of the American Association before joining the White Sox and pitching in four games. Wilkinson was a strong enough pitcher in minor league ball that Kid Gleason pitched in two World Series games, a total of 7.1 innings. Wilkinson passed away in 1956, making his signature quite difficult. Applied here in black ballpoint on a lined index card, the signature has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA, grading NM-MT 8. THe paper exhibits some areas of uneven toning and light foxing, though the signature displays very well.
