Roger Staubach is one of the most legendary figures in pro football history.  The winner of the 1963 Heisman Trophy with the United States Naval Academy, Staubach was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys, where he began playing following the fulfillment of his military commitment (and a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam).

As the Cowboys quarterback, Staubach was the winner of two Super Bowls and five NFC Championships, and was a large part of the successful Cowboys franchise of the mid-to-late 1970s that earned the nickname "America's Team."  It is this legend that has resulted in Staubach's 1972 Topps "rookie" card being one of the most valuable and important football cards of the modern era.

It is no secret that modern sportscard collectors have been keenly aware of the collecting maxim "condition = value."  Pristine modern cards are typically in plentiful supply.  Yet despite having graded 1,649 copies of this card, PSA has awarded a grade of MINT 9 to just 27 copies of the Staubach rookie, with only two graded higher.  This is a stunning example of the card, with outstanding centering and color, well deserving of the grade.

With only a few dozen mint copies of this card available, a mint condition 1972 Roger Staubach rookie card is a very significant piece of football collecting history.

Population Data:

PSA Population: 1,649 total graded, 27 at this level, 2 higher.

SGC Population: 275 total graded, 2 at this level, none higher.
