Love of the Game February 2, 2013 Auction

A career .272 hitter, Bill Dahlen had a 21-year career with Chicago, Brookyn, the New York Giants and Boston, before finally being signed by Brooklyn prior to the start of the 1910 season. In the original print run, Dahlen was listed with Boston, before being changed to Brooklyn downstream. As such, Dahlen, Brooklyn cards are only found with 350 Series backs, like the reverse of this card, a clear Sweet Caporal 350.
The card itself, graded FAIR 20 by SGC, presents extremely well for the grade, with large borders and solid color. The card's wear, however, is consistent with the grade, with heavy creasing at the bottom right corner and significant edge wear, along with wrinkling along the left border. Still, this is a significant card, one of just a handful of T206 cards where the team designation and artwork were changed midway through the production run.
Another outstanding scarcity, highly desirable among T206 collectors.

*Note that PSA only recently began classifying T206 cards by their back varieties. An additional 91 Dahlen Brooklyn cards have been graded by PSA with "unknown" backs, 10 at this level, 70 higher.
