With its colorful baseball and football sets of 1951, the Bowman Gum Company of Philadelphia helped usher in the modern era of card collecting.  Cards of that season's football issue would bear a striking resemblance to the company's baseball cards, identical in size with with virtually identical back designs.  However, the fronts bore a slight improvement to the baseball issue, with team logos painted atop the player name.  This set remains very popular and widely collected today.

The first card of the Hall of Fame Lions offensive lineman, this is a near-perfect example.  With brilliant colors, wonderful centering, and sharp corners and edges, this is an absolutely stunning example of Creekmur's card - possibly the finest known copy.  What's more, only four copies of this card exist in this grade, with none higher.  Extraordinarily low-pop cards such as this do not become available very often, as there are very few recorded examples of a MINT graded Creekmur to have sold in recent years.

An outstanding example - possibly the very best - of the first card of a Detroit Lions Hall of Famer.
